We are seeking an experienced business development officer to originate new middle market sell-side M&A engagements, and potentially other related investment banking assignments. In this pursuit, the successful candidate will utilize their extensive network within the privately held business community, and also with professional service providers such as accountants, lawyers, wealth managers, exit planners and commercial bankers. The successful candidate will also actively participate in marketing campaigns and initiatives undertaken by the Firm that will generate additional opportunities to be prosecuted.
The successful candidate will (i) be highly motivated, (ii) possess extensive expertise in investment banking, strategic consulting or related industries, (iii) demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, a facility for quickly gaining proficiency in a broad spectrum of industries, as well as an ability and desire to pursue, manage, and be accountable for a large volume of near- and longer-term opportunities. In addition, we are seeking professionals with an entrepreneurial, responsibility-seeking personality, the ability to connect with, and passion for, advising middle market business owners, and an interest in building a career in a small team environment.
The successful candidate will be willing, enthusiastic and able to dedicate a reasonable amount of time to travel.
10+ years of M&A experience as a top-performing business development professional at a reputable financial services firm (related experience will be considered)
A network of relevant relationships and contacts to be utilized in connection with the role
Public speaking experience, and in particular experience delivering substantive presentations to sophisticated and discerning audiences
Excellent business-to-business sales skills
Outstanding communication and persuasion skills (written and verbal)
Strong organizational skills and complete familiarity and skill leveraging CRM platforms
Demonstrable skills in preparing and overseeing the preparation of presentation and collateral materials used in client meetings (pitches and related documents)
Expertise in a particular industry helpful but not required
Ability to work proactively and independently but also as a team player (we have a ‘one firm’ mentality)
Strong sense of ownership, initiative, attention to detail, and tenacious adherence to deadlines
Positive attitude, high energy level, and commitment to excellence and highest standards of integrity, professional performance, and business ethics
