Search for the Chief Financial Officer
The University of Colorado Boulder, the flagship university of the distinguished University of Colorado system, seeks a strategic, collaborative, and mission-driven leader to serve as its next Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
The CFO is a senior fiscal steward of the resources for the University, overseeing CU Boulder’s $2 billion budget, and manages a broad portfolio, with oversight of data analytics, financial reporting, institutional data reporting, and strategic budget development. Reporting to the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer (EVC-COO) and serving on the Chancellor’s leadership cabinet, the CFO works closely with senior leadership, notably the Provost and EVC-COO, to develop a comprehensive campus-wide finance strategy and budget controls. The CFO also serves as a senior advisor on all aspects that financially affect campus operations, including financial planning, budgeting and analysis, controllership, and revenue cycle planning. The CFO develops and communicates campus policies on finance, accounting, budgeting, and financial and accounting systems, and leads the development and delivery of the annual operating and capital budgets, the campus annual budget process, management of cash reserves, and oversight of structured financing associated with debt issuances and public/private partnerships. In addition to Budget and Finance, the CFO oversees the Division of Business Strategy, which provides support to the campus for enterprise contract negotiations and business development as well as several campus auxiliaries such as parking, bookstore, and the CU Children’s Center.
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 10 or more years of combined progressive management experience in accounting, financial planning and analysis, or budget management and business operations are required.
