Garfield School District RE-2 in Rifle, Colorado, is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to begin on or before July 1, 2021, ideally by June 15! The individual will provide and be accountable for the leadership, strategic direction, management, quality control, and evaluation of all financial operations, programs, and activities with the District.
Garfield RE-2 serves approximately 4,700 students over 10 schools. Rifle is easily accessible from I-70 and located 25 miles from Glenwood Springs, and approximately equidistant between Grand Junction and Aspen. With its river, lakes, waterfalls, skiing, and hiking, it is ideally suited for a leader who embraces a love of the outdoors along with a professional passion for excellence and resourcefulness.
The ideal candidate will be forward thinking, have a degree in Finance or a related field (CPA License Preferred) and experience leading financial operations in a School District. The hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports to the Superintendent and designee and serves on the District’s Leadership team. The CFO assures understanding of the Superintendent, Board, and other administration regarding the current and potential future implications of financial impacts using a transparent and open approach. The CFO supports the relationship between Garfield School District RE-2 and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and District staff. The CFO maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and District information along with supporting the School Board’s four District Wide Goals:
Improve culture and climate;
Improve student achievement;
Be good stewards of school finance;
Lead our communities.

A Master’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration or a related field preferred. Minimum experience of at least five years leading financial operations in education or governmental operations or equivalent preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
