United by our compassion, we help our most vulnerable neighbors break the cycles of homelessness and addiction to reclaim their dignity. We are a family of four programs working to fill the gaps in the homeless services system; CARITAS Shelter, CARITAS Works, The Healing Place and the CARITAS Furniture Bank
CARITAS is the largest provider of homeless services in the Metro Richmond area. We are unique in that we fill the gaps in the homeless services system so that people in crisis can find stability in their lives now and in the future. Through our programs – the Shelter, the Furniture Bank, Works and The Healing Place for Men, and soon to be added The Healing Place for Women - we provide people with the basic life and job skills they need to exit shelter and return to their families, their jobs, their homes and their lives as productive citizens.
In the last few years, the CARITAS Leadership Team and its Board of Directors decided to expand its operations to include The Healing Place for Women. In order to accomplish this goal and improve overall operations, a new facility was needed to combine all the operations in one central location. A former manufacturing facility was chosen, and a major renovation process began. This is a $28 million-dollar project of which $14 million has been raised to date from private donations and the remainder is being paid through Historic Tax Credits and New Market Tax Credits. The renovation project is expected to be completed in early to mid-2020.
Currently the Financial Staff includes a part-time CFO, a Financial and Administrative Manager, and an Administrative Assistant. There is a need to have a full time CFO as the financial complexity and scope of operations is increasing significantly.
