HFC Executive Search has been retained to find a Chief Financial Officer for a renowned club in the Greater Philadelphia area.
The CFO will be the key person with respect to all financial and certain administrative functions at the Club. The position reports directly to the Club’s General Manager, works closely with the Treasurer and supervises the six-person finance staff. The Club’s revenues are $10m+ and the Club is going through a significant renovation and capital improvement. The role interfaces with the Club’s senior staff, the Board, and key club committees.
We are seeking an individual who has either served as CFO in a small company ($10-20m), or non-profit ($10m+), or in the hospitality or educational fields. This person will have an accounting degree or majored in Finance at the undergraduate/graduate level. They might have an MBA and/or CPA, and they have supervised at least 4+ people for a minimum of 5 years. Alternatively, we seek a Controller or FP&A expert who is ready to step up to higher responsibilities. Overseeing significant capital projects is a plus, and experience in using data to address club areas like membership, services, etc. would be a plus.
We have been asked to find an individual who has strong strategic analytical skills who can bring “best-in-class” thinking to the Club through operational and financial improvement. Clearly, since this is a club, this individual must subscribe to the “great customer service” model since he or she will interface with members through Board and committee meetings. Interpersonal skills including clear, concise presentations and oral commentary are critical. The General Manager sees this position as his management partner and is looking forward to exchanging ideas with this individual as they manage the Club into the future.
