Healthy Beverages •Pocari Sweat -- Leading isotonic electrolyte-replenishment drink (across Asia) •Crystal Geyser -- Alpine spring water (USA, Japan) •Tejava / Java Tea -- Bottled black tea and green tea (USA, Japan)
Otsuka's Strategy and Corporate Development team plays a critical role in developing growth strategies and executing acquisitions for Otsuka's global portfolio of nutraceutical brands. As a team that reports directly to the CEO of Otsuka, a $27 billion publicly listed company in Japan, this role provides significant exposure to senior leadership and an opportunity to influence the direction of the Nutraceuticals division as it transitions to be a truly global leader across its three product categories -- Supplements, Healthy Foods, and Healthy Beverages.
The Senior Analyst, Strategy and Corporate Development contributes to the scoping, research, analysis, and implementation of strategic initiatives and M&A activities for the Nutraceuticals division.
Examples of work we have done in the last couple years include: •M&A: FoodState (supplements), Daiya Foods (dairy alternatives) •International Strategy: Global markets assessment for Supplements, go-to-market strategy for Nature Made China •Domestic Strategy: In-depth consumer research into potential new product categories for US Nutraceuticals
Responsibilities •Conduct research and develop financial analyses to evaluate growth opportunities, including geographic expansion opportunities for existing brands and penetration of new categories within existing markets •Participate in the evaluation of acquisition opportunities by conducting due diligence, developing sophisticated financial models, and preparing presentations to summarize the group's recommendation to Otsuka executives and board members •Provide analytical support and project management for a variety of cross-functional and inter-company growth initiatives, partnering with portfolio company leadership to develop and implement growth strategies •Present findings and strategic recommendations to senior executives at Otsuka and other affiliated companies •Monitor industry trends and competitive dynamics and summarize findings to help senior executives assess potential impact on Otsuka's strategic plans •Support the development of tools and frameworks used for strategy development across the global Nutraceuticals division
Minimum Qualifications •Bachelor's degree from top-tier university required; MBA preferred •2-4 years of work experience across management consulting, investment banking, private equity, and/or corporate development and strategy •Exceptional quantitative skills and financial acumen, including forecasting and valuation •Ability to frame analysis, identify insights from complex data sets, and synthesize how those insights might impact business strategy •Strong intellectual curiosity with entrepreneurial approach and good business judgment •Comfortable collaborating with and influencing partners across different functional groups within affiliated companies •Ability to simplify complex/abstract ideas for others •Demonstrated strength in both written and verbal communication across all levels of an organization •Professional and approachable style with high degree of personal integrity
Travel •Estimated Travel: 10% -- mostly domestic but sometimes international -- for diligence and market research as projects dictate
General office environment, ability to sit for long periods of time. Ability to move about an office.
