Under the direction of the Board of Directors of Renown Health & Barton Health Systems, and reporting to the CEO of Carson Valley Medical Center, the CFO leads and manages the financial affairs of CVMC including, and not limited to: Financial Services, Revenue Cycle, Admitting, Single Billing Office, Accounting, and Purchasing.
Facility/Area: CVMC is a 23-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Gardnerville, NV with a city population of approximately 5700. The hospital is situated in heart of the High Sierra Desert mountain range with access to magnificent South Lake Tahoe within 20 miles, and the city-lights, entertainment and shopping of Reno, Nevada within 50 miles. With four-seasons offering an average of 300 days of sunlight a year, the region is home to the benefits of four-seasons and notorious skiing, boating, outdoor activities and entertainment at your fingertips! If you crave “big city” adventures, Sacramento, California's capitol city, is less than 90 miles to the west over the Sierra Nevada mountain pass.
Leadership/Community: The CVMC CFO will lead a team of highly dedicated and enthusiastic financial professionals toward the successful attainment of organizational goals as well as offering leadership that fosters professional development, employee engagement and employee satisfaction. CVMC is a highly visible and contributing member of the Gardnerville community. A CFO who shares the same passion for community outreach and involvement will appreciate the CVMC and community philanthropic culture.
Competencies: Highly qualified CFO contenders will demonstrate expertise and experience within the very specific financial intricacies of CAH Revenue Cycle, CMS reimbursement, and the many unique factors that qualify a facility as a Critical-Access-Hospital.
Scope: The incumbent will provide timely and accurate information to internal and external users, produce individual and consolidated financial statements, budgets, five-year financial plans, tax returns, cost reports and other various information. The CFO will be directly involved with patient billing and collection functions and will serve as a liaison with BHS CFO and Business Manager. The CFO also serves as a liaison between the Member systems for financial related issues and will participate in business development initiatives such as joint ventures and physician affiliations.
Relocation/Cost of Living: Prior to submitting your application, please thoroughly review the Gardnerville housing market and of cost-of-living indexes to establish the viability of relocation (if applicable). Housing market fluctuations can exceed 200% among rural/CAH markets and we ask that your application signifies an ability to relocate to, and reside within, the Gardnerville, NV market. CVMC will offer a relocation contribution to the CFO incumbent if applicable.

Minimum Qualifying Experience and Competencies:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance from an accredited College or University. Advanced degree and/or CPA preferred Successful organizational progression within healthcare finance will be considered in lieu of these.
Leadership: Proven financial success with at least four years of financial leadership (or a minimum of eight if advanced degree or CPA has not been completed).
Interpersonal Communication: A proven ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.
